Arab newspapers and websites discussed the huge explosion that shook the port of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Tuesday, killing more than 100 people and injuring thousands amid horrific scenes of destruction.
While the newspapers expressed broad Arab solidarity with Beirut, which had been declared a disaster city, one book asked about the causes of this explosion.
The news of the explosion topped the front pages of newspapers, expressing trauma from the disaster and solidarity with Lebanon and its people.
The title "Brunchima" appears on the front page of the Kuwaiti newspaper, Al-Rai.
The newspaper says: "The Lebanese capital seemed afflicted by the explosion, which many believed at first glance was caused by an earthquake, or what it might be called 'Birchishima', in what resembles the destruction of the Japanese city of Hiroshima, which was exposed to a US nuclear bomb during World War II, before That the burning smoke from Beirut port begin to draw scenarios for several novels, which were not resolved until the early evening hours, none of them, so the only fact remains that hundreds of dead and wounded have fallen. "
While newspapers reflected many feelings of shock and pain, others expressed the solidarity of the Arab countries with Lebanon in its crisis.
The Qatari Al-Sharq newspaper reported what was stated in the tweet of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, saying: "Qatar stands beside the brothers in Lebanon and is ready to provide immediate support."
Under the title "A Qatari pioneer race with Lebanon," the East says in its editorial: "Words are not enough to offer condolences to the brothers in Lebanon over the missing, nor words of sympathy to the wounded who were injured on this difficult day in the history of Lebanon, which will be added to the balance of the sad days of Beirut, but It remains the duty of the world to look with humanity to this afflicted country, and to deal with its people away from the regional calculations that Lebanon has always been the stage of liquidating.
The Lebanese newspaper, Al-Dustour, highlighted the directives of the Jordanian King Abdullah II in a major headline, saying: "The King directs to send a field military hospital to Lebanon."
The Syrian Al-Baath newspaper referred to the condolences of President Bashar al-Assad to his Lebanese counterpart, Michel Aoun, through a telegram in which he affirmed Syria's support for Lebanon, saying: "We were very distressed by the great event that took place at the port of Beirut and left a large number of victims and wounded."
"Blast or attack?"
The Bahraini newspaper, Al-Ayyam, wonders about the nature of what happened, and whether there was an "explosion or an attack", noting that US President Donald Trump described it as a "possible attack." "It appeared to be a terrible attack," he was quoted as saying in a briefing at the White House.
Leila Bin Hodna said in the Emirati newspaper, Al Bayan: “Over the decades, Lebanon has gone through many wars, difficulties and crises, but the will of the Lebanese people is winning, as Lebanon remains no matter how crises ravaged it, like the phoenix rises from the ashes. Yesterday’s bombings, which came two days before the issuance of The Special Tribunal for Lebanon has made its final ruling in the case of the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in 2005, but every ordeal that comes to this country is made more solid and determined to continue preserving the country and standing on the heart of one man. "
And she adds: "The most important of those who think, even for a moment, is that they can strike the decisions of the Hariri Court and affect the credibility of the judiciary, and delusion is that those who believe that the Lebanese will be dragged into violence and strife. The battle exposes those who killed Hariri to topple them after they traded religion and the slogan of the resistance. "
